This election year in the US promises to be more contentious and divisive than ever. The need to be careful with the messages we consume and share, and the ability to dig deep to mine compassion for those we don't agree with (or understand) are both going to be key. It is so easy to get caught up in the "news cycle" and waste energy on anger or fear created by our media. My goal this year will be to consume carefully, stay mindful of thoughts, words and actions and find ways I can make a positive difference.

Really enjoying your inspiring substack!

Thank you, Caeri! I agree with you. This election is about voting for democracy or authoritarianism. Even though the Democrats are far from perfect, the other party is currently anti-democracy. Let's GOTV and stay mindful and grateful in 2024!

Your open heart, and all the work you do, are inspirational. And important.

As for de Beauvoir's quote, it almost brought me tears.

Hi Rob! Thanks for sharing your 2024 outlook. It sounds amazing and I am thankful for all the creativity and care you are putting out there in the world. For me, I have chosen a focus word for 2024 and that is “Flourishing.” My three guiding goals to the unfolding year are: 1) continue to share my yoga therapy and other skills; 2) savour and nurture my relationships; and 3) become a better friend to Mother Earth. May it be so.

Good to hear from you, Tina! I still use yogic breathing every day and night. Best wishes to you and yours in Australia and around Mother Earth.
